Dr. Ashley Guidry LeMaire

Growing up in South Louisiana, Dr. Ashley Guidry LeMaire was raised by her father, an avid duck hunter, and her mother, an operating room nurse. From them, she learned not only a deep love for animals but also a passion for the practice of medicine.

Dr. Ashley Guidry LeMaire fondly recalls a pivotal moment in her journey toward veterinary medicine involving a family-owned Labrador puppy named “Buddy.” When Buddy was diagnosed with parvovirus, a disease with a very low survival rate, the family called their veterinarian, who recommended home treatment. Dr. Ashley and her mother transformed their dining room into a treatment area, working tirelessly to nurse Buddy back to health. After several days of intense care, Buddy defied the odds and made a full recovery, returning to his playful puppy self. The experience left Dr. Ashley overjoyed and deeply moved, solidifying her passion for animal care.

When she’s not caring for animals, Dr. Ashley loves spending time with her family. With two young children, there’s never a dull moment! The family enjoys fishing, gardening, and, of course, cheering on LSU football—Geaux Tigers! Dr. Ashley’s time at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine holds a special place in her heart, as she continues to serve the vibrant South Louisiana community she loves, surrounded by its rich food, music, and culture. She is proud to be part of a community that cares deeply for its furry companions.
